Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly book meme created and hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books and Dani @ Literary Lion, where we discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each other’s posts. You can check out more about this meme here!

To be honest! The topic for today is very interesting and I really love it. So here are a few points I’d love to discuss a few diverse topics:
- The Covers!
Nope, don’t throw that on me! I know you would say that ‘don’t judge books by the covers’ and all. But, trust me. Some/I mean most of the books which have made to the top-lists of your shelves have them beautiful covers. I mean, why not?! There are so many cover designers and graphic designers out there who work to beautify the whole aesthetic of the book in just one cover. Sometimes, the book might not lead upto your expectations. But, that does not mean good covers make bad books or vice verse.
what do you think of that?
2. The Actual Plot Line and Writing Style
Well. Open the book and forget the cover now. The whole plot line of the book matters a lot to be honest! How the story evolves, what the aesthetic is, how deep can you get into the writing style. Sometimes, if there are any errors or when you are unable to understand even a particular part of the book, it takes away the whole essence of it! So, more than the cover, this does take the cover. It does stand on the aisle to blast your mind.
3. Characters and Sub-Characters
If the character or the sub-characters are not intellectual, the whole essence of the book dies. Whether it is own voice representation, or just in general a character. It should be intelligent (you know what i mean is not so perfect yet acting the age.) I don’t talk about the characters which are meant to be childish here, but, how they behave according to their emotions should be perfect. Like, A character is going so smart till the mid-plot of the book and suddenly they make some dumb move, it really takes away the essence of what has been read before! Also, sub-characters are just as important as the main characters! There are just some sub-chars who you can feel like real people! Yes, that makes a book beautiful!
I know I am a bit late for the post! But, I just wanted to post it, so here it is!!!
You know, I totally focused on the cover of the book and didn’t think of the question that well. It’s not “What’s your favorite kind of cover”, it’s actually “what makes a book beautiful”. So I missed the chance to talk about all the other things that I think make a book beautiful. However, I still loved reading this, and I do agree that side characters need to have a personality too!

Thank you so much!! And it is fine! Covers make the books beautiful! It just strikes my mind that I could cover all this under this topic! I really love this meme, I am sad I started participating in this so late!! Yes, without personality in any side characters, the book will fall flat!

I dont think any less of choosing the book for its cover at all. And I have friends who have multiple copies of the books just for matching covers. I am not that fanatical about them but I do choose the better (meaning non movie poster movie) cover when I can.

I loved this, and I agree with all your points! I am a sucker for a stunning cover. This does influence how I chose a book to read. However, I find every book to be beautiful in it’s own way so that doesn’t always apply haha
