Hello Guys! I am back after a long time! Unable to post on time due to a bit of everything going in the life. I hope you all are doing amazing and today I am here with a review to an amazing book!
Name: You & Me At The End Of The World
Author: Brianna Bourne
Genre: Science Fiction/ Contemporary / YA Dystopian
Publication Date: 20th July, 2021
Publisher: Scholastic Press
This is no ordinary apocalypse…
Hannah Ashton wakes up to silence. The entire city around her is empty, except for one other person: Leo Sterling. Leo might be hottest boy ever (and not just because he’s the only one left), but he’s also too charming, too selfish, and too devastating for his own good, let alone Hannah’s.
Stuck with only each other, they explore a world with no parents, no friends, and no school and realize that they can be themselves instead of playing the parts everyone expects of them. Hannah doesn’t have to be just an overachieving, music-box-perfect ballerina, and Leo can be more than a slacker, 80s-glam-metal-obsessed guitarist. Leo is a burst of honesty and fun that draws Hannah out, and Hannah’s got Leo thinking about someone other than himself for the first time.
Together, they search for answers amid crushing isolation, but while their empty world may appear harmless . . . it’s not. Because nothing is quite as it seems, and if Hannah and Leo don’t figure out what’s going on, they might just be torn apart forever.
An amazing read for people looking out to read YA contemporary!
It was a good story overall! I enjoyed reading it and finished it quite quickly. I don’t read much contemporary, only if it seems like a kind of book I would be reading and having fun. And well I have not read quite enough contemporaries to compare, it was a beautiful read.
Hannah is a serious ballerina and has a pact to date only boys who are in her dancing classes. But what would she do when there is no one except the guy infront of her? Leo is known to play hard metal but Hannah catches him playing a soft song in the music store. The chemistry starts right there, both of them trying to support each other while being alone.
There is Instant Love trope in the book and I have come to know a lot of people who enjoy it very much but somehow it just does not fit my mind that “our eyes met and the hearts did too”. It turned out perfect for me because I relish the plots where the guy is popularly known as a jock but in reality he is not. And I love it when the girl has some filters while choosing a boy but ends up falling.
Again, that is just one part! What I loved even more is how the apocalyptical world has been set. They don’t know what to do and the surroundings just keep get weird. They are at a point that if they cannot find what exactly they are stuck in, they just mind end up in not a good way.
An awesome read to wrap up!
Pick it up! ❤
When she’s not writing, Brianna Bourne works as a stage manager for ballet companies around the world. Originally from Texas, she grew up in Indonesia and Egypt and now lives in England with her husband and their two daughters.
