And These Books I Thought About Didn’t Break My Heart || Wrap Up – 2021!

Happy New Year to all the lovely souls out there! I hope you achieve all your goals this year and on top of everything, have fun! It has been a long since you saw me popping up here, hasn’t it?! I just got burdened under so many things that I had to put my blog aside, but, now I am back. Hoping to stick around definitely and give time to my lovely blog and the readers this year.

For anyone who subscribed while I was on hiatus or are checking out the blog for the very first time, I welcome you this year. I am Krupali, a blogger from India, currently blogging about books but going to expand my works into more niches soon.

So, how have you all been?
What did you read this year?

How has my reading year been?

Absolutely fantastic! I did not read a lot of books this year. Heck, I didn’t even keep a count about the numbers but I guess that goes away in a corner when I enjoyed a lot of books I read in the year. There were many quality books that took me by surprise this year and I genuinely enjoyed reading them. For every book I didn’t review in 2021, I plan to write one in the coming year.

Here are some of the books that made my year amazing:

Of Silver and Shadow by Jennifer Gruenke

Of Silver and Shadow was one of the beautifully portrayed high fantasy books I encountered during the year. I was on a blog tour for the same and I have no regrets reading this. The book has a rebellion (just like the cover suggests) and there are queer characters who are fierce (will definitely steal your heart). There is magic, destruction, an evil king and a lot of history. The book also has multiple POVs, not making it even a bit uninteresting!

If you can get ahold of the audiobook, surely get that treat for your ears.

This is not a ghost story by Andrea Portes

I do not see many (not at all) people talking about this book – This is Not a Ghost Story. The story has a smart and witty, and funny protagonist – Daffodil, you are going to adore this girl. Portes’ writing just held me from first till the end. The book has small, quickly readable, one-pagey chapters containing a lot of giggles and chuckles inside. Definitely want you to check this one out if you can!

I am evil to people who don’t read the suggestions I give (I’m kidding (I’m kidding)).

The four Winds by Kristin Hannah

The Four Winds, the book that had me intrigued the most. When I hear so much about a book, I get scared to read it, but, I did anyways! The book had me in tears and I was absolutely devastated when I finished it. YOU HAVE TO PICK IT UP! Not only it had me hooked with a catchy storyline and amazing writing style but also made a lot of impact on me as a person (or at least that is what I felt).

You’ve Reached Sam by Dustin Thao

You’ve Reached Sam – let’s cry together, shall we?! I was so blessed by getting a digital arc of the book. I wanted the paperback copy of the same, but, the book was too costly for me in India as a student to buy so I couldn’t. In the end, I ended up buying a digital copy. I hope I can get my hands on it in future though! It was just a gorgeous read and one of the most beautiful, heart lurching, soul breaking books. Just as I write this, it is bringing back memories of the book. (LET ME CRY)

lowkey bragging: even wrote two poems for the book but I don’t think anybody would want to read them.

These were the major reads that impacted my year but if I wish to list the number of books I loved throughout the year, the post will go longgggg (we do not want that!).

Name some of the books that made your 2021 beautiful.
Recommend some books to me for 2022!

Other than books, I invested most of my time in listening to music and trying to organize everything with the ongoing university year. It wasn’t as bad but I wished to be more active last year, which I couldn’t be! Going to change habits, going to find interesting things to share with you all.

Recommending this song: it also became an inspiration for the blog’s title

Well, that’s that and that’s it! I am signing off right here, will come back with the books I plan to read in 2022! You are more than welcome to drop suggestions, recommendations, post ideas, or anything really in the comments!

give us a follow on my Instagram (this I run in collaboration with my friends).
